STAND OUT PROJECTS

We're very proud of our reputation for excellence and the long standing partnerships we've built and within the marine community of Ontario. Some of the projects we've had the privilege to work on over the years have kept our innovation gears turning and our business growing.
Loyly Floating Sauna

CUSTOM BARGE BUILD

In the fall of 2025 Floatation was contracted to build a 35’ x 15’ x 4’ high barge to float a sauna, office and change room facility*. Key elements included two sealed bulkheads, bolted hatches to provide access to each compartment, a custom fabricated 9’ x 5’ fully operational cold plunge pool, and a ballast compartment to counter balance the platform when the pool is in operation. This vessel was welded, sandblasted and painted with epoxy by our team at the shop on Toronto Island. Once ready, the pre-fabricated facility was mounted, and the whole structure was transported across the harbour to it's new home on Toronto's busy waterfront.

*Sauna/Office/Change room facility was fabricated by a separate company in British Columbia, not by Floatation Canada

TDOT WATER TAXI

ALUMINIUM PONTOON BOATS

Traditional pontoon-style water taxis often experience deck failures caused by torsional stress, docking impacts, and long-term structural fatigue. Through years of vessel maintenance and repair for various water taxi companies in Toronto Harbour, Floatation has identified those common failure points and developed innovative solutions to improve performance and longevity. It is this knowledge and expertise that led Tdot Water Taxi company (and others) to entrust Floatation with the expansion of their fleet.
Our custom fabrication process featured integrated aluminum extrusion deck systems, hydrodynamic motor mounts designed to reduce drag, and impact-absorbing docking suspension systems. These innovations reduce structural failures, improve fuel efficiency, and extend the service life of the vessels. With a focus on lightweight aluminum construction, structural integrity, and marine engineering innovation, Floatation Canada delivered reliable, high-performance water taxis built for long-term commercial use.
Boulevard CLUB

36' X 55' CUSTOM JR SAIL PLATFORM

As the long-standing repair company for their dock systems, it was only natural that Boulevard would contract us to design, manufacture, and install some incredible low profile docks for their Jr Sail program.
This particular dock was contracted in 2017 - 36 feet by 55 feet, large enough to house their jr sail boats, complete with a built in launch pad and ramp to connect it to the shore. We built it to spec at Parliament Street, as it was too large to be constructed in our shop at the time.
Royal Canadian Yacht Club

WAVE ATTENUATOR SYSTEM

After fourteen years working with RCYC, it became evident that major dock services would be required - the dock system has been exposed to the elements of ice and rough seas. Floatation has been there to execute timely repairs, relocate and replace anchors and mooring chains, keep leaking docks from sinking. The refurbishment of the wave attenuator system has been one of the biggest projects we've completed for them, with more to come.
ONTARIO MARINAS

FLOATING DOCK SYSTEMS

From large-scale marina redevelopments to targeted dock expansions, we provide end-to-end marine construction services, including dock design and fabrication, installation, anchoring systems, and structural integration. Here are just a select few of the many large and small dock projects we've completed.

ISLAND YACHT CLUB

Dock Replacement

This project involved the replacement of old, pile-driven docks that were too high in the fall and too low in the spring, with newly built floating docks. These new docks would provide a refresh for their members and longevity to their dock system.

BIG CHUTE MARINA

Dock Expansion

As their business was growing, Big Chute marina chose to expand their existing dock system. We designed, manufactured and installed four T-sections of dock resulting in sixteen new slips.

CENTERVILLE

New Dock & Bridge

In 2017, Floatation was contracted to design, manufacture, and install a floating platform for the Beer & BBQ restaurant, at Centreville. The 8’ x 30’ aluminum ramp bridges from shore to the 10’ x 60’ dock runway which is connected to a 24’ x 60’ platform for public and water taxi use.

PIRATE'S LIFE

Platform & Dock System

We were initially contracted to build a 16’x 100’ floating platform and an additional 100’ has since been built for their operations. We also installed additional buoyancy necessary to keep the platform level. The platform was later modified to receive four 3’x 25’ fingers for water taxi use.
